I wish I had one of those exciting stories to tell you about Reno and why he ended up in rescue but there is none.  Reno was rescued from a shelter in Southeast Virginia and sadly this very sweet deaf dog was probably a stray.  Reno's deafness does not stop him from letting you know what he wants and needs.  He has a fantastic way of doing "cute" things such as sitting on his hind legs and moving his front legs to say, "Hey you, I want to be fed or let out".  Reno loves to lay with his human friends and be stroked.  Reno walks well on a leash and enjoys the company of other dogs.  His groomer said he does very well when he visits.  If you are looking for your new best friend, why not come and visit Reno.  He will not disappoint you.

Hello, my name is Mikey and my foster mom says that I am one of the sweetest dogs she has ever rescued.  I love to be with my people.  I am "the typical little" dog that will keep your lap warm if you let me.  I am even good with other dogs once I know they will be nice to me.  My foster mom has gotten me all of those ouchy shots and now I am ready to find my forever home.  My foster mom does not know why I ended up in rescue but she says that she is happy our paths met.

Hello, my name is Myra and my foster Mom tells me I am beautiful.  She says she gets pulled in by my eyes and the beautiful way I walk.  I guess no one told me when I was born that I was not a show dog because I prance when I walk.  She laughs and says it is like I am flying through the air. 

My foster Mom is very nice but I would like to have my own home.  When I came to my foster Mom from SW VA, I  left behind my puppies.  They all found homes back home but I was taken to the shelter.  My foster Mom gave me those "ouchy" shots and she says that she is taking me to the Doctor to be spayed.  She said it will help me to "keep that pretty figure that I have now".  I know you ladies out there can understand that.

I bet you want to know how I am with the other dogs here in rescue.  I like all those other dogs but I have to say I like the ones my size the best.  I weigh about 25 lbs and while I know ladies don't say their age, my foster Mom says that at my young age of 3-4, I am young enough to brag.

Oct  2011-My foster Mom is very good about keeping this site up to date, so if you see me I am available.  Hello, my name is Layla and as you can see I am very beautiful older lady.  I know real ladies do not tell their ages but they believe I am about 10 years old.  My story started out very sad but I do not harp on it.  I was used as a breeding dog in Tenn but Second Chance Dog Rescue paid to free me.  Immediately after spaying me, Second Chance Dog Rescue had me groomed. My groomer often says that I am a princess when she grooms me.  That lady even puts bows in my hair at times.  Can you believe?  They said I did not smell very lady like and I must admit, I agree.  They then had me spayed and gave me all my ouchie shot and they even tested me for heartworms and I am happy to report that I am heartworm free so now I am on prevention.  I was a really good girl and the vet told me I was very brave.  I am a very quiet because I was only used to being with my babies.  However now I am really enjoying this people thing.  I will come out to see where my foster mom is and I will even allow her to pick me up and I must say that I like the warm touch of a human being.  I get along well with other dogs and would probably be fine with most other dogs as long as they don't jump all over me.  I am very little and my foster Mom does not want me to get hurt.  I love running around the backyard with the other dogs here in rescue but I would really love to have a family of my own.  I promise to be a good girl and provide many years of love and devotion.  So as you can see, I have lots of great qualities.  I bet now you want to know how to adopt me. Dec 2011-If you see this posting, I am still available, my foster Mom is very good about keeping this site up to date.  Hello, my name is Sandy and I am between 1-2 years old.  The person who brought me to the shelter said that they had found me and since I did not get along with their dog, they could not keep me.  Now that I am here in rescue, my foster Mom says that I get along with most of the dogs here in rescue. There is one dog that I don't like because he always barks at me.  (Would you blame me?)  My foster Mom has had me spayed to make sure that I do not get pregnant and has given me all my ouchy shots.  She has also had me tested for heartworm and I am happy to report I am heartworm free.   She also had me microchipped just in case I ever get lost again, I can be returned.  Now to tell you a litte more about me.  I love my people.  I am very affectionate and just want the chance to show someone how loving I can be.  My foster Mom does not have any cats so she does not know about them.  I love to snuggle with my people and will get up as close as I can to them so that perhaps you will let your hand fall down to rub my belly.  My foster Mom says that I am only the 2nd pug she has rescued but I am very sweet and would make a great dog for someone.  So as you can see, I have lots of great qualities.  I bet now you want to know how to adopt me.
